Addition using Place Values
- Step 1: Arrange the provided numbers 702, 646.3 (addends) to align them properly in respective columns for ones, tens, hundreds, and Thousands to tenths, hundredths, and thousandths… stacking them vertically. Make sure the decimal points are aligned for both numbers.
- Step 2: Always convert the decimal numbers to like decimals, wherever needed, Add zeros in the places where the length of the decimal numbers is not the same.
- Step 3: Add the numbers from the rightmost column, moving leftward, beginning with the ones column, followed by the tens column, and hundreds column till the leftmost column.
- Step 4: The total of the provided numbers is achieved by adding all the columns together.
